 SCORCHERS OUT OF COSAFA CUP Malawi Womens Football team are out of the COSAFA Women's Championship after Zimbabwe and Zambia picked wins in their Group B matches to secure semi final places. According to Sports Touch Malawi social media pages, Scorchers needed a miracle in order to sail through as the best runners up but Zambia sealed a comeback 2-1 win against Eswatini to finish as group winners with 7 points while Zimbabwe beat Botswana 1-0 to finish second with 7 points as well. Malawi face Angola later this afternoon and the result would mean nothing as they will be at 6 points if they will win in the game. OFFICIALLY LAMECK MITHI HAS JOINED MIGHTY WANDERERS FC   Now it has been confirmed that Lameck Mithi has Joined Mighty Wanderers FC from Mayale Barracks following the signing of the 36 months contract which will end in 2029.  The Malawi Under-20 forward spent his maiden season in the elite league at Moyale Barracks FC (2025/26), playing ten games, scoring ten times and providing two assists in all competitions.  Mighty Wanderer FC is preparing for this season football journey by adding In their striking force because for the Many years scoring has been a problem of the team.  CHAZIYA HAS LIFTED HIS FIRST TROPHY AT HIS NEW CLUB, SIMBA BHOLA FC Lawrence Chaziya has won his first trophy with Simba Bhola FC following a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Agama FC in the thrilling Barnabas Mushunje Memorial Cup derby. The closely contested encounter lived up to expectations as both sides battled fiercely for supremacy in a match filled with intensity and passion. Simba Bhola FC managed to edge their rivals by a solitary goal, a decisive moment that ultimately sealed the title and sparked celebrations among players and supporters.  Many players are in Zimbabwe Football League seeking for the green pasture. PETER MPONDA HAS SELECT PLAYERS AND OFFICIALS TO MASTERS SECURITY  Peter Mponda has selected 11 players and 2 technical panel members from Baka City to join Masters Security FC . Mponda conducted assessments with Baka City players in Karonga last month The selected players, who traveled to Lilongwe , are Lydan Kishombe, Mwiza Chiona, Bruce Mapunda, Ngesa Mwafulirwa, Phillimon Ndhlovu, Hastings Ndau, Boyd Kumwenda, Enock Kaonga, Joseph Mwambungu, Washington Msiska, and Davie Mwalilino.  The technical panel includes Moses Mwakisulu as Physical Trainer and Victor Mwakhwawa as Assistant Coach.  MIGHTY WANDERERS ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF KUMWENDA  Mighty Wanderers FC has parted ways of his midfielder Vitumbiko Kumwenda today on 23 February 2025. According to Mighty Wanderers FC official Facebook page . The team is not going to extend the contract of the player.  Vitumbiko Kumwenda joined the team in 2020 and has helped the team to win Airtel Top 8 in 2022, Castel Challenge Cup in 2024 and TNM Super League of 2025.  WANDERERS PLAYERS ARE NOT YET PAID THEIR PRIZE MONEY. Over the past two weeks, Mighty Wanderers players have been in discussions with management regarding the TNM Super League prize money, in line with club policy. Several meetings later, the Nomads board has now decided. Players will not receive a separate share of the prize money and have been told, “bwana adakukonzani kale.” Wanderers chairperson Dr Thomson Mpinganjira rewarded the players and technical staff with a total of K45 million following their TNM Super League triumph. Each player received K1 million, while coach Bob Mpinganjira received K1.5 million and his assistants K1.25 million each. The payments were made six days after Wanderers thrashed Moyale Barracks 6–0 and were confirmed league champions after their cousins, Bullets, drew with Mighty Tigers.  At the time, players and members of the technical panel thought it was just a Christmas bonus, with the chairperson celebrating the title win. SCORCHERS BEATS LESOTHO 8:1 Malawi won yesterday against Lesotho with a big historical margin of 8:1 in COSAFA women's cup . It was obvious that Malawi was a big team and yesterday's game was a must win After the game head coach of Malawi praised his girls for the brilliant performance they shown in the second game, despite 2:0 defeat of the first game against South Africa . “The game was good because we have won with a greater margin, so I’m happy with the result. Much appreciation to the players because they did what we discussed during our training sessions,” said Fazili . The Scorchers has now played two games in the group of teams like Lesotho, South Africa and Angola . The top winner of the group will proceed onto another state of the tournament. Castel Challenge Cup Ends in favour of Bullets  Its all over at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe where FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are the champions of the 2025/26 Castel Challenge cup after defeating Goshen City Dedza Dynamos.  Hassan Kajoke grabbed a brace for Bullets while Chikondi Mbeta scored a consolation goal for Dynamos.  Kajoke has also won the man of the match award. The Champions of last year, Mighty Wanderers FC did not reach the final stage because they were knocked out by the Mzuzu City Hammers. MBULU GOES BACK TO COSTA DE SOL Flames forward, Richard Mbulu , has returned to Costa do Sol after leaving UD Songo . Mbulu left the Canaries in 2024 where he won the League with Songo but after his contract not being renewed, he is back with the team. As of now, Mbulu has also crowned as the new Captain of the. This showing that the team is expecting more from him. He will have Chikoti Chirwa as his compatriot at the team as Lloyd Njaliwa left the club for Caps United in Zimbabwe . BULLETS TO PAY K4 million fine  FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has  fined a total of K4 million broken down as follows K1 million for violence and hooliganism, K1 million for assaulting and bullying match officials, and K2 million for bringing the game into disrepute. According to Football Association of Malawi, Six supporters Chingeni Gumbala Kadam’manja, Shaibu Woyera, Trouble Ndikida Kapito, Alick Tsegula, Ganizani Baba and Dyton Bello were found guilty of bullying opponents as well as obstructing security operations and inciting violence, and have each been banned from entering any football stadium in Malawi and participating in any football related activities for two years.  CHINZIMU'S HACKEN REACH EUROPA LEAGUE SEMIS Scorchers midfielder, Faith Chinzimu will have a chance to play in the semi finals of the UEFA Womens Europa League after her team, BK Hacken secured a 11-1 aggregate win over Breidablik in the Quarter finals of the tournament. After securing a 7-0 at home last week, the team travelled to Iceland for the second leg match and clinched a 4-1 win to consolidate their dominance in the tie. Meanwhile, the team will face Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany in the semi finals, a team that knocked out PSV 7-1 on aggregate. The other tie involves Hammarby and Sparta Praha . Malawi National Women's Football Team has left the country to South Africa for the Hollywood bets COSAFA Women's Championship 2025 , which will be staged in Polokwane , South Africa, from February 18 to March 1. The Scorchers are in group A,along side South Africa, Lesotho and Angola . The first match for Scorchers is on Wednesday against the host South Africa before facing Lesotho and Angola on 21 February and 24 February respectively. The top teams in each pool and the best runner -up will advance to the semi-finals. The semi final begins on Friday 27 February with the winner of group B face the winner of group C before the winner of group A conquers the best runner -up. THE JUNIOR SCORCHERS WILL FIGHT NIGERIA TO COMPLETE QUALIFICATIONS Malawi's Under-20 Women's Football team will face Nigeria in the final qualifying round of the 2026 Poland FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifiers . Nigeria beat Senegal 3-1 on aggregate, winning 2-1 on Saturday, while Malawi knocked out Guinea Bissau with a 6-2 aggregate win.  The Junior Scorchers are the only COSAFA region team left in the tournament, after South Africa and Zambia were eliminated by Ghana and Uganda , respectively. Malawi will likely travel to Nigeria for the first leg between May 1-3, 2026, with the return leg from May 8-10, 2026.   Many Malawians are believing that our current Junior Schochers has good players because of Women National Bank Premier League . SCORCHERS U20 ARE CLOSE TO POLAND. 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP   Malawi's Under-20 Women's Football team , the Junior Scorchers , are one step closer to qualifying for the 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup after securing a spot in the final round of qualification with a 6-2 aggregate win over Guinea Bissau on Saturday The Scorchers started its journey in Guinea-Bissau with 1:1 forced draw because there, they came from behind.  Meanwhile, the same incident happened today at the Bingu National Stadium where the Scorchers coincided a goal In less 5 minutes of the match. By half-time it was 1:1 because the Scorchers equalised on 7 minutes.  During the second half, the team show a brilliant performance as they managed to score 4 goals.  STEWARD ALLOWED PITCH INVADER TO ESCAPE Many football lover has raised their concerns on the bad behaviour shown by the Stewards at Kamuzu Stadium for allowing a pitch invader to escape in their hands during the match between Nyasa Big Bullets FC and Mzuzu City Hammers FC yesterday. A video circulating on the social media is showing a man suspected a bullets supporter invading the pitch at Kamuzu Stadium. But he arrested by stewards, some bullets officials and supporters grabbed him a release him in hands of Stewards who are responsible to handle these issues. Football lovers in this country argues that, Malawi Football is not improving because of traditional Believes, were by some supporters authorised by club officials invades pitches and apply harmful substances that they believe can improve the performance of their teams. As now Bullets official has not issued any statements on the issue. But many people are waiting for an official statement from Football Association of Malawi...

GOSHEN CITY DEDZA DIAMONDS INTO THE FINAL OF CASTEL CHALLENGE Dedza Diamonds has breaked the record of testing final stage of Castel challenge cup following their victory on semifinal stage over Blue Eagles yesterday.  The match ended 1:1 in a regular time, but things ended in favour of Dedza after defeating Eagles of area 30 through penalties by 4 goals to 3.
