NOT YET PAID
WANDERERS PLAYERS ARE NOT YET PAID THEIR PRIZE MONEY.
Over the past two weeks, Mighty Wanderers players have been in discussions with management regarding the TNM Super League prize money, in line with club policy.
Several meetings later, the Nomads board has now decided. Players will not receive a separate share of the prize money and have been told, “bwana adakukonzani kale.”
Wanderers chairperson Dr Thomson Mpinganjira rewarded the players and technical staff with a total of K45 million following their TNM Super League triumph.
Each player received K1 million, while coach Bob Mpinganjira received K1.5 million and his assistants K1.25 million each.
The payments were made six days after Wanderers thrashed Moyale Barracks 6–0 and were confirmed league champions after their cousins, Bullets, drew with Mighty Tigers.
At the time, players and members of the technical panel thought it was just a Christmas bonus, with the chairperson celebrating the title win. They were unaware that the payment was part of their reward for winning the league and its K100 million prize.
The players had expected the club to distribute the prize money separately. However, following communication from board members, that will not be the case.
