CHAWINGA HELPS TO HER TEAM TO WIN LEAGUE TITTLE BEFORE IT ENDS
Scorchers captain, Tabitha Chawinga, scored a brace to inspire OL Lyoness to a 3-0 win win over Le Havre W to win the Arkema Premiere Ligue phase with five games to spare.
Chawinga made a brilliant finish with a powerful left footed shot after beating a defender in the 26th minute before sending a header into the net in the first minute of added time to double the lead.
She was then taken off in the 62nd minute then the Champions went on to grab their third goal and secure the win.
The game marked her 50th match for the team after joining them two years ago from Jiangsu Huangda of China permanently.
Lyon have 49 points from 17 games having claimed 16 wins and one draw in the League. They hold a 19 points gap ahead of second placed Nantes and will play in the League's Championship playoffs.
Chawinga has moved up to second in the golden boot race with 11 goals and five assists, trailing to PSG's Romee Leuchter who has 14 goals and 7 assists to her name.
Many Malawians are waiting for this performance during Women African Cup of Nations which Malawi will complete in July this year.
